Incoterms 2000

Incoterms comprise a set of trade terms published by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). Incoterms regulate the seller’s and the buyer’s rights and obligations in the trade contract. The extent to which Incoterms are to be applicable is agreed to between the seller and the buyer.

EXW Ex Works - (stated place)

All means of transport

The buyer pays from the place stated.

The risk transfer takes place when the seller makes the goods available to the buyer at the place stated.

FCA Free Carrier - (stated place)

All means of transport

The seller pays to the place stated. Free carrier. The buyer pays from the place stated.

The risk transfer occurs when the seller delivers the goods to the carrier indicated by the buyer at the place stated.

FAS Free Alongside Ship - (stated port of departure)

Ship

The seller pays to the stated port of departure. The buyer pays from the port of departure.

The risk is transferred upon the goods. The buyer pays for loading at the ship’s side at the quay at the port indicated by the buyer.

FOB Free On Board - (stated port of departure)

Ship

The seller pays until the goods are loaded on board the ship at the stated port of departure. The buyer pays from the port of departure.

The risk is transferred at the time the goods pass the railing of the ship indicated by the buyer at the stated port.

CFR Cost and Freight - (stated port of destination)

Ship

The seller pays to the stated port of destination.

The risk is transferred at the time the goods pass the ship’s railings at the port of departure.

CIF Cost, Insurance and Freight - (stated port of destination)

Ship

The seller pays to the stated port of destination. Regarding insurance and freight. The buyer pays for unloading at the stated port of destination.

The risk is transferred at the time the goods pass the ship’s railings at the port of departure.

CPT Carriage Paid To - (stated port of destination)

All means of transport

The seller pays to the stated destination.

The risk transfer occurs when the seller delivers the goods to the first carrier.

CIP Carriage and Insurance Paid to - (stated destination)

All means of transport

The seller pays to the stated destination.

The risk transfer occurs when the seller delivers the goods to the first carrier.

DAF Delivered at Frontier - (stated port of desination) (uncleared)

Lorry and rail

The seller pays to the stated frontier station. The buyer pays form the state frontier station.

The risk is transferred when the goods are made available to the buyer at the stated frontier station.

DES Delivered Ex Ship - (state port of destination)

Ship

The seller pays to the stated port of destination.

The risk is transferred when the goods are made available to the buyer reading for unloading onboard ship at the stated port of destination.

DEQ Delivered Ex Quay (duty paid) - (at the stated port of destination)

Ship

The seller pays until the goods have been delivered at the quay at the stated port of destination.

The risk is transferred when the goods are made available to the buyer at the quay at the stated port of destination, cleared for import.

DDU Delivered Duty Unpaid - (stated place)

All means of transport

The seller pays to the place stated. Delivered uncleared.

The risk is transferred when the goods are made available to the buyer at the stated place (uncleared).

DDP Delivered Duty Paid - (stated place)

All means of transport

The seller pays to the place stated.

The risk is transferred when the goods are made available to the buyer at the stated place (cleared).
